    Seattle Plays Host To GreenFestival08

by Roy Maine Jr. | KSTW.com

For the first time since its inception Seattle will play host to one of the largest environmental gatherings in the country, on April 12th and 13th at The Washington Trade and Convention Center.

GreenFestival08 will celebrate the Emerald City and its eco-conscious community with two jam-packed days filled with how-to workshops, cutting-edge films, delicious vegetarian food and for you enviro-party animals out there organic beer & wines not to mention live music.  There will also be more than 150 authors, educators, leaders and visionaries on site (speakers include Mayor Gregory J Nickels, author Amory Lovins and radio host Amy Goodman) as well as over 300 exhibits with everything from all-natural body care products and organic clothing to Fair Trade gifts and the latest in 'green' items for the home. In addition to all of the above the festival is offering a Swap-O-Rama where you can bring your less-than-desired clothing and create fresh and funky styles.

In a release from Co-founder of Global Exchange Kevin Danaher and Alisa Gravitz,  Executive Director of Co-op America (both of whom are Executive Co-Producers of the event) they state:

"We recognize the First People of this land, Chief Seattle's people, the Duwamish tribe and their elected leader the Honorable Cecile Hansen; and we acknowledge their stewardship of this land. We are honored to be among many First Nations people and celebrate in this county named after the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. We extend our special thanks to the City of Seattle for its work in making the Green Festival Seattle a reality and to King County for its support. And we truly appreciate the insight and assistance of our Seattle Green Festival Host Committee, local green business and community leaders who have worked closely with us to bring you the most innovative ideas and the best technologies, products and services in the Puget Sound region."
