Summer, Kind Of Wonderful (Season 2, Episode 1)

Fade in to the Hamptons and summer is almost over. That isn't stopping Serena and her bratty but fashionable peers from squeezing a little scandal out of the last hot nights. Nate is fumbling with an older (married) woman; a COUGAR!. Dan is making out with various hotties in NYC while he squires away with Jay McInerney and a New York magazine internship. Blair is avoiding Chuck, post-European trip, and Chuck is giving his best "CHUCK BASS" for the foreign chicas hitting Coopers Beach. Poor little Jenny is being demeaned at her Eleanor Waldorf internship and newly gay Eric is floating around waiting for his deserved apology.

Absentee parents are nowhere to be found, with the exception of Serena's grandmother on their East Hampton estate. Rufus is only reachable via phone to Dan and Jenny as they struggle to find meaning in their teenage high-powered internships. How they bagged a design and writing internship under the age of 18, we'll NEVER know! Remember, Rufus is on his big tour after fleeing the city following the Van der Woodsen/Bass wedding.

Our favorite brat pack are name-dropping every usual Hampton's haunt and wearing their fair share of fashion's '08 resort and ready-to-wear collections while they hit up the (watered down/daytime) White Party fully equipped with the lovely Tinsley Mortimer. Serena, helping Nate cover his cougar affair, accompanies him to the party. The two finally share that they have no sexual desires towards each other, prompting Serena to test the waters with a 'loveless' kiss meant only for the eyes of the jealous cougar. Sadly, Dan witnesses Serena and Nate's fauxmance moment, but the misunderstanding is easily worked out and Serena and Dan later meet up on the beach, in front of a bonfire and amidst fireworks.

In Blair and Chuck land, Blair arrives fresh off the Hamptons Jitney, in time for the White Party and a snatchy convo with Serena, and she's got a new British beau who just happens to be a Lord. The Brit was Blair's attempt to make Chuck jealous, and it works! When Chuck sees the two he realizes he must have Blair. If only Chuck could say those three little words...I. LOVE. YOU. Until he can choke those out, Blair will never be his.
