    Artist:
    Snoop Dogg
    Album: Ego Trippin
    Genre: Hip Hop/Rap
    Release Date: 03/11/2008
    Label: Geffen Records

    What the critics say….

Billboard: "Snoop Dogg's ninth album is perhaps his most progressive one to date. It not only features a vintage '80s sound complete with old-school synths and vocoders, but also finds D-O-double G pulling triple duty as rapper, singer (!) and one-third of production team QDT." —Mariel Concepcion

Entertainment Weekly: With a total of 21 tracks, Trippin' is a lot to take in: It's sentimental, it's fun, it's vulgar. It's everything you'd expect from the man who gave us 1993's classic-but-crude Doggystyle. B

Rolling Stone: If Snoop had exercised more prudence in editing, we wouldn't get to enjoy bizarre experiments such as "My Medicine," a country-rock song dedicated to "real American gangsta" Johnny Cash, or "Cool," where Snoop credibly sings (!) a cover of an old single by the Time. 3.5 out of 5

    What I say…

I would have to say that the reviews are pretty much on point for this album. While it's not the greatest thing Snoop has ever done, it does provide some solid cuts for everyone. A little bit of commercial with a little bit of gangsta and some 70's and 80's throwbacks makes an overall solid effort.

With 21 tracks, atleast six songs could have been easily cut and created an even more solid album, however to my surprise this is a much better album than I expected it to be.

Stand out tracks: SD Is Out, Gangsta Like Me, Sexual Eruption, Waste Of Time, Sets Up, Why Did You Leave Me, Can't Say Goodby.
