    The Beat: Movie Review "P2"
Aaron gives his review on the new movie P2

    by Aaron Fields | KSTW.com

Being the movie fanatic that I am I had to go to the movies this past weekend to check out "P2" on opening night. Anyone who knows me pretty much knows that if I don't check out a movie on opening night there's a good 90% chance I won't see the movie until it is released in theaters.

The first time I seen the preview for this movie was of course at the movies while I was interestingly checking out the previews before my featured film began. Personally I like the previews and I always have to be at the movies before the previews start because I want to know what's coming out and what to put on my list of must see movies.

I have to admit I was a little skeptical about seeing this movie....ok who am I kidding I was very skeptical. I mean think about it, some crazy stalker security guy traps an unsuspecting woman in a parking lot and terrorizes her. This movie screamed boring to me. How interesting could it really be? The plot alone said to me that this was going to be an uninteresting waste of my time. However there was one small ray of hope, the fact that it was rated R.

I have learned in the past to never go see a thriller with a PG-13 rating. It just doesn't do it for me. Call me crazy if you want but I enjoy movie gore and slayings. If it's not rated R usually these scenes are cut right before the action happens, all for you to sit there and imagine to yourself what happens. No thank you, if I pay $9.50 to see a movie you better believe I want to see it all.

Fortunately this movie surpassed my expectations and actually proved to be more entertaining than I thought. Although there are only two main characters, others do show up from time to time just to keep things moving along. Never once did I feel like the movie was moving too slow or make me fall asleep as some seem to do when they fail to keep me excited. There isn't a lot gore in this movie which is one thing I wish it had more of but the few scenes are worth the wait. The dialogue was pretty cheesy especially in the beginning of the movie; however the crazy stalker security guard guy added a hint of humor to his crazy ways that gave the movie something different and unexpected. Don't look for any real surprises in this movie. The ending is very basic and expected but if you like movies that make you jump and your pretty easily scared, there are a few scenes that might do it for you.

On my movie scale this movie gets a Matinee rating.

Full price= You gotta see this movie, if not you'll be sorry on Monday when your left out of the chat around the water cooler
Matinee= Pretty good, but I'd save the extra couple of bucks for a fast-food dollar menu after the movie
Rent it= Worth renting the DVD if you get ditched on a Friday night and all you have to hold is your cat fluffy
Dump it= Tell your worst enemy to go see it, chances are, they'll despise you more
