has an interesting idea for his debut album. I'm sure this name is familiar to most but for those that don't know, he made it to the top 7 on American Idol and clearly it wasn't because of his vocal abilities.
He explained to TV Guide "I'm really excited about my album. I'm going to start working on it as soon as I move out to L.A. I'm going to start meeting with writers
I don't necessarily know how to describe it, when I do, it sounds like I don't know what I'm talking about, but I have a really, really, really good idea. Basically, it's just going to be me. It's going to be my personality in the form of music."
He then goes on to describe the kind of vibe he wants for the album "See, it's going to be an R&B-rooted vocal style, but I want to integrate jazz emotion and rock energy and world beats, world sounds," he continued. "So it sounds kind of schizophrenic, but I'd marry them in a comfortable way. I'm confident it will sound good."
Is it just me or does this sound like a disaster in the making? I'm not even too concerned with his voice because there are tons of singers who are nicely doctored up in the studio to make them sound like they have atleast a decent singing voice. I won't name any names but I'm sure anyone reading this could come up with atleast 5 right off the top of their head at this very moment. What I'm worried about is the fact that he is confident that all these sounds, energies and emotions will sound good together.
This is something I would really have to hear in order to believe that it can be done well and be successful. After all if your albums don't sell you're not going to keep your record deal too long and they'll just replace you with the next teenybopper who they can shape and mold to be what they want them to be.
"I'm just saying"
