    Sky Siljeg

    by David Fry | KSTW.com

Once in a while we get to do a story that gets everyone at the station really excited – this is one of those stories.  At 13 years old, Sky Siljeg is simply one of the best skateboarders in the world. He is currently ranked 28th in the North America World Cup Bowl Pro and he holds the National Men's Concrete Rodeo title for '06 and '07.  He competed in his first international contest this February in Bondi, Australia, skating as part of the Vans team.

Sky lives with his mom, Pam, in Bothell and spends every spare moment practicing at the local skate park.  Pam struggles to make ends meet so that Sky can pursue his dream of becoming a pro skateboarder.  At five years old Sky received his first sponsorship  from Jones Soda. He is now also sponsored by Vans, Libtech and Khiro just to name a few.  He's been featured as one of Outside magazine's "Next Generation of Superstars" - and he's just getting started.

And the best part is that he's a really great guy.  The most obvious example of this is the relationship that he has with his Mom – there is a deep love and respect there that is wonderful to be around.  Pam put it best when she said, "I want to be like Sky when I grow up!".  I'd have to agree with that, especially if it means being able to land a frontside invert.
